This is a course for people who are already computer literate. To benefit from it you will need to have a basic knowledge of word processing, spreadsheets and databases, up to the standard of CLAIT or a similar basic IT qualification. |

The IBT2 syllabus has been developed in response to advances which have been made in software currently used in business. The course is designed to make use of the individuals basic knowledge of computer applications and apply these skills in a realistic situation. The course will improve your skills in word-processing, database and spreadsheets and show you how to integrate different applications within one document. Most of the applications used are from Microsoft Office Professional: Word 97 (word processing) Excel 97 (spreadsheet) Access 97 (database) There are five practical assessments on the course: Producing a word-processing document from notes in a specified format; Creating a database from which queries and reports of specified data are produce; Creating a spreadsheet to calculate specified data and printing specified sections of the spreadsheet; Creating a spreadsheet to produce specified charts and graphs; Integrating elements of the other four assessments into a report with a specified format, using unique file names and keeping an accurate file storage record sheet. |

The course leads to a nationally recognised qualification and is accredited by OCR (Oxford, Cambridge and RSA). Assessments are sent away for external marking. |

| Progression Routes | ||||
|
European Computer Driving Licence (a computer skills qualification recognised throughout Europe), full-time further or higher education, any employment requiring computer competence alongside other vocational skills. |
